Service Pistol

• H category firearm licence
• Certificate of Competency issued through the Club
• Pistol Australia Holster Accreditation card, for matches where the pistol is drawn from a holster 

Pistols in a calibre ranging from .32 to .38 are used and are primarily based upon standard ‘duty’ type firearms, although minor modifications, typically to sights and trigger mechanisms, are permitted. 

A Service Pistol match consists of 90 rounds and usually takes about 45 minutes to complete.

It is an exciting and challenging mixture of:

• precision and action shooting
• over distances from 50 yards to 7 yards
• with targets engaged from varying shooting positions, including free standing, prone, sitting and from behind barricades. 

Each series consists of:

• a timed exposure of turning targets
• as the distance decreases, so does the time available to engage the target.

Service Unrestricted – match variation:

• This match does not use a holster and does not require ammunition to reach a minimum Power Factor, making it perfect for training new shooters in correct technique and procedure.

Service 25 – match variation:

• This 65 round variation is shot from 25 to 7 yards, using short-barreled pistols – a four inch revolver or a self-loading pistol.
• All rounds must be loaded from a pocket.

World Association 1500 – match variation:

• This 150-round match is shot between 50 and 7 metres, using firearms very similar to those used in the Service Pistol match.

• There are several variations to the WA1500 matches available.

• The matches are gaining in popularity with WA1500 World Championships often held in Australia.

• A Pistol Australia Holster Accreditation card is required for the WA1500 match.

• World Association 1500:
  • a 60 or 150 round match is shot on the 4th Sunday of each month, with matches commencing at 8:30am.
